The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) released Waiver #85: Nationwide Waiver to Allow Seamless Summer Option (SSO) through School Year 2021- 2022. All SFAs participating in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) or School Breakfast Program (SBP) are eligible to apply for the Seamless Summer Option (SSO) for School Year (SY) 2022. Once approved by the Michigan Department of Education (MDE), SFAs can serve meals free of charge to children, age 18 years and under. In this course, we will discuss the general information regarding the SSO and some of the requirements for operating the program. We will also explore its similarities and differences to the National School Lunch Program, as well as other waivers available this year.
